Each Family of Parishes will follow the Pastoral Planning Pathway to guide its future. This Pathway will assist each Family in creating a pastoral plan for the parishes in the Family, articulating how they will live out the six Beacons principles and abide by each of the parameters, all aimed towards vital, mission-driven parish life within the Family of Parishes and ultimately, as one canonical parish.
Phase 1 of pastoral planning will begin in July 2022. In the meantime, Phase 0: Warmup invites parish leaders to pray, learn, and prepare between now and June 30 for the important work of pastoral planning.

July 1, 2022 marks the official beginning of the pastoral planning process and is the date upon which the Family of Parishes gets started on the Pathway. However, knowing that there will be some preliminary work needed, Phase 0: Warmup began in early 2022 and runs through June 30.
Everything needed for the Pathway will be available here. Parish leaders will be able to access needed information, share best practices with other Families of Parishes, submit needed materials, learn more about pastoral planning, and more. Click here to learn more about the Pathway and the digital platform.
No. The process is designed in phases, enabling each Family of Parishes to move forward deliberately and carefully, based on the needs and existing situation in each parish.
Parish leaders should sign up for the Parish Vitality newsletter, which comes out each month chock full of information about planning, the Pathway, upcoming events for parish leaders, and more.
I am convinced that Beacons of Light, born of great hope, will enable us to form stronger parishes, centered on the Eucharist, that radiate the love of Christ and joy of the Gospel… God has abundantly blessed our first two centuries and will certainly bless the next.
