Communications

Parameter

#31 – Every Family of Parishes will utilize the archdiocese-provided census database for managing parishioner contact information and sacramental records.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The features and functionality of the archdiocese-provided census database provides a repository of important individual and household information enabling the pastor and his staff to communicate with parishioners in a more timely and meaningful manner.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Effective pastoral communication is essential for a Family of Parishes to become a strong, vital community of evangelization and service centered on the Eucharist. The archdiocese-provided census database will enable:  (1) the pastor and staff to better know the composition of their parish(es); (2) a common data interface for all parish staff; (3) better organization of ministries and programs across a Family; (4) multi-parish data to ultimately be merged more seamlessly; and (5) priests and parish staff to move from one Family to another without having to learn a new system.

For support in communicating in your Family of Parishes, please contact the Communications Department.

Media Toolkit

Take advantage of these resources to communicate about Beacons of Light and Pastoral Planning Pathway.

Sample Bulletin Articles

We encourage all pastors to regularly communicate with their Family of Parishes about Beacons of Light as it relates to both consolidation and evangelization. This can be from the ambo as part of a homily, in parish bulletins and other print media, in short videos, and in social media within the Family of Parishes. The link below is to sample bulletin articles published by Fr. Ed Pratt to his Family of Parishes.  These are provided simply as an example of good practice and you are free to adapt them for your own use.

Family Pathway Report

With the submission of the Annual Planning Reports by pastors, now is the perfect opportunity to prepare to update parishioners through a Year 2 report for your Family. A template has been created to help Families share their Family Pathway Report. The template includes an online generator through which a print-ready PDF will be created and a PDF template which may be customized with text and images.

Communicating the Vision

Parish communicators and other parish leaders gathered online in May 2024 to learn about how to more effectively communicate the vision for their Family of Parishes to their parishioners and the community.

Workshop For
Parish Communicators

The formation of Families of Parishes will undoubtedly create unique communication challenges and opportunities. To begin to address these, the archdiocesan Center for Parish Vitality and Office of Communications will be holding a one-day workshop for those Family staff members responsible for parish communication – including bulletin editors, website managers, social media coordinators, and email and newsletter editors.
